The name "Stomaria" is derived from an RTS game called Empire Earth.

Inspiration for the founding of Stomaria goes back to the early 2000's with a Real Time Strategy (RTS) game called Empire Earth.

As a nation building game, Empire Earth allowed players to create unique civilisations, collect recourses, build cities and conquer those around them. This game was played by the future Emperor of Stomaria and fuelled a passion for history, economics and politics.

Nearly two decades later, in 2019, that passion lead to the formation of Stomaria.

The name itself is taken from a generic phrase in Empire Earth that the citizens of the early epochs of the game would say when given a command. And so it was that "stoma" became "Stomaria" to pay homage to the humble RTS game that ultimately inspired the formation of a new nation and empire.

Because of the structure of Stomaria and the Empire that it’s building, the usage of the name in both formal and informal settings can often be confusing and depends much on the context of what’s being discussed.

“Stomaria” usually refers to the nation of Stomaria itself.

“The Empire of Stomaria”, often shortened to “the Empire”, usually refers not only to Stomaria but also those nations that have been integrated as member states.

However, depending on the context, “Stomaria” may refer not only to Stomaria itself but also the member states while, conversely, “the Empire” may exclude reference to Stomaria and will instead refer to the member states alone.
